Did you know?

Many shelters and humane societies (including local organizations) do not have the capacity to care for young orphaned kittens. As a result, often times if the kitten is not old enough to eat on it's own, it will be euthanized.

Safety First

Look around , make sure there is no immediate danger in the area to the kitten. If it is safe for you, approach and see if there is any sign of the mother. (for more info on this see FAQ page).

Keep Warm

You must keep the kitten warm. You may use a heating pad or heat lamp but be sure you provide an area for it to crawl away if it gets too warm. NEVER feed a cold kitten. This can be dangerous because their digestive system may not function properly when cold.

Transport

If you determine the kitten is abandoned, gently pick it up and place it in a safe container (kennel or box tall enough that they cant crawl out with ventilation and a warm blanket or towel) and take it to a safe location.

Call Us

Before attempting to feed a kitten, please call us for further instruction. If asked to leave a message, please provide your name, a return phone number and as many details as possible on the situation and condition of the animal. We will do our best to return calls like this ASAP.

Did you know?

Kittens under 4 weeks of age require around the clock feeding and care.

They also have no ability to thermoregulate on their own. So, they must be kept warm via an external heating source.

Grey Kitten
Did you know?

Cats of any age do not have the ability to properly digest cow's milk. So, you should never try to feed a young kitten cows milk. It can actually make them very sick. ONLY kitten replacer formulas should be used.
